Obituary
Died on the 12th of September 1911, near Ballard, Mrs. Annie Handy, wife of Mr. William Handy, aged 51 years.
She was afflicted with Rheumatism for several years, and her suffering was intense. No one can realize, how severe her pains, unless they could have seen her drawn limbs and her helpless condition.
She had not walked any for six years.
Able physicians were called to see her different times, but they could not conquer her disease.
Her relatives and friends would often visit her, but to their sorrow, could not do anything to ease her pains.
She was always ready to express her faith in God and pleaded and prayed to die, that she might have relief. We have often wondered why such a true and gentle mother had to suffer so much, and be taken from her children, but God knows best for He giveth and taketh away.
The deceased was a daughter of Mr. John Belcher, dec'd, and Mrs. Nancy Belcher.
She leaves a husband, four children, an aged mother, two sisters and five brothers, besides a number of relatives and friends to mourn her departure.
The bereaved family have the writer's heartfelt sympathy in their loss, but we should rejoice to think that mother is freed from her pains for it was Jesus only who could give her relief.
Her funeral was preached at Mt. View Church by Rev. R.M. Via and Rev. Hylton, after which her remains were laid to rest in the graveyard near the church to await that Glorious Dawn.
